We have a truck here that was towed in yesterday, reportedly because a wheel bearing failed. When it arrived, we noticed the front wheel was cocked in at a bad angle. What we discovered once we got it on the rack, was that this driver, while cocky and full of himself (and young), is very very lucky to be alive today. The entire front wheel assembly had literally chewed itself to pieces, and fell off in our hands when we took the tire off. The ONLY thing that saved this man’s life was the fact that the brake caliper had not broken yet. The slide pins were bent, indicating they had been under massive strain, but the caliper was the only thing holding the wheel on.

Young, old, middle-aged, no matter. LISTEN and pay attention to what your car is telling you. This driver ignored the wobble in his steering wheel for who-knows how long, and kept his radio cranked so that he couldn’t hear the increasingly loud growling in his front wheels.
